It happens a lot. Valuable plastic resins have to be downgraded due to speck damage or other contamination. A valve is accidentally opened, a process goes haywire, or some other non-standard event turns your valuable prime resin into materials worth half as much or less. What do you do?

Obviously the first step is to determine what went wrong and fix the system that caused the problem. It does not do much good for the contaminated materials you now have but at least you can fix the problem before you make more bad stuff.

What do you do with the contaminated or speck damaged materials?

Maybe you can downgrade it and sell it to someone with a high tolerance for speck damage or contamination and recover some of the money lost. Unfortunately, if nobody wants it you will have to dispose of it and write it off as a total loss (not to mention the added disposal cost).
